"Relics are primarily discovered via land exploration expeditions, but they can also be purchased from the Marketplace, as I mentioned earlier. Now, what are Relics and what can they do? Well, firstly Relics can be of two types:"
- Instant: When you activate these types of relics, the effect is immediate and instant.
For example, Instant Food III gives your settlement 70,000 Food as soon as you activate it. However, be careful when activating Instant relics, for every instant relic activation, there is an associated cooling period, i.e. x number of turns before you can activate another instant-type relic. - Buff: Buff-type relics are different from instant-type relics in that the effect has a duration so it lasts for a certain number of turns.
For example, Marble Arch III allows your settlement to produce +15% Marble at each End Turn phase. However, there is always a limit to the number of buffs you can have active at any given time and this limit can be observed from the Settlement Effects sheet.
"One can instantly see the power of Relics. Relics can be activated simply by clicking on the relic image in the Settlement Effects sheet. Placing the cursor over the relic images will also give you detailed information and statistics about each relic you possess. Once activated, the effects of the relics can be observed at the bottom of the sheet." He indicates again for your understanding.
"Not only can you observe the effects, but also the source of each effect. At the bottom you will also see a section for Penalties. Penalties are not associated with Relics but with Artifacts which are activated by Kingdoms."
"Now, a little about exploring land and then we shall move onto more... manly stuff!" He seems overly more happy that he has been all day. He leads you to another barren land, he expects you are getting used to them by now.
